Overview
MWEB Africa’s Business Server product is a highly capable integrated server software solution that allows a company to setup a business data network comparable to that of a large business, but at a fraction of the cost. The Business Server is simple to setup and run and capable of delivering on all the companies information technology requirements. Ease of use and management coupled with relatively low cost makes the Business Server an attractive proposition for companies with up to 100 computer users. It integrates best of breed opensource applications and user defined services that can be configured through an intuitive web based interface.
The Business Server includes core business applications like e-mail, Internet web access, virtual private networks, file storage and print services. In addition to these key business applications, Business Server also enables businesses to monitor, manage and protect network and data resources through in-built anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall, intrusion prevention, content filtering and bandwidth management systems. The system is designed with maximum flexibility in mind with customers being able to selectively choose features based on their business needs.

Configurable services for employees:
Using the web-based configuration interface built into the Business Server, management can decide which employees have access to which networked services. For example certain sets of users may be granted permission to use email services, but not allowed to surf the intranet or Internet.

Network Protection: Business Server provides several levels of security protection. At the network level, the firewall restricts access to your systems and provides advanced features like a stateful firewall, DMZ, 1-to-1 NAT and Port Forwarding.
Protocol Level Protection: At a protocol level, the peer to- peer control system lets you manage peer-to- peer file-sharing usage, whilst
Application Level Protection: At an application level the system includes, virus and spam protection, with an in intrusion detection and intrusion prevention system providing yet another layer of defense against threats.

E-mail Backend System: Business Server allows you to create and manage your own email mailboxes as it incorporates a fully functional email backend platform that can be used in conjunction with popular mail clients such as Microsoft Outlook. Clients will benefit from using a familiar client such as Microsoft Outlook and the company would benefit from not having to invest in costly backend infrastructure such as Microsoft Exchange.
E-mail Services Supported: The product supports receiving mail using standards based protocols like UUCP and POP3 spooling and also allows for the outbound sending of email using the SMTP protocol. Included in this service is a mail spooling service that ensures email is not lost in the event of the MWEB Africa Business Server being offline. Employees will have the ability to download their mail directly to their PC or retrieve their mail using the ready-to-use webmail interface.

Proxy and Firewall Services
Restrictive Browsing: The Business Server includes a time-based access control feature allowing company’s to enforce time-of day web access for employees within their organization.
Website Caching: This feature improves Internet speeds and reduces Internet costs. Caching websites on the Business Server improves browsing performance and speed as popular web pages are stored on the Business Server. A second benefit is that it improves the efficiency of a company’s Internet connection as many pages are stored locally, thereby reducing the need for continuously having to retrieve web pages from the Internet.
Content Filtering: Blocking inappropriate websites from the end user and Business Server can also be used to enforce company policies; for instance, blocking personal web sites like Facebook thereby increasing productivity at the office.

Monitoring: The Business Server provides advanced systems monitoring functionality represented in an easy to use graphical interface. Monitoring of usage and performance data for example total daily and monthly Internet usage and number of emails can be viewed in real time. Various reports can also be extracted from the system making diagnosis and maintenance straightforward.
Web Administration Interface: The web administration interface provides the Business Server administrator with a simple to use management and administration interface. Different access levels can be created on this server to only allow a manager or selected employees the ability to create users and modify user settings, by denying general user’s access to the server and making any changes themselves.
Remote Administration: To assist you in managing your product, we have a remote administration feature. This simply means that an MWEB Africa representative or technical support agent can securely connect directly into your server and resolve any problems without physically going out to your premises to do so.
